Testimonials

I think there is a huge need for yoga therapy as a bridge between conventional yoga classes and ‘counselling’ because yoga can be so much more than what is achieved during a group session.
— Private Client, Woman, 50s
Each time we met, you began by asking me how I was and then really listened to my responses. This gave me the opportunity to talk through some issues. I was totally at ease sharing how I felt…You are an excellent listener and show great empathy
— Private Client, Woman, 40s
Thank you so much for the sessions – you are an excellent yoga teacher with a beautiful style. I find your voice gentle and soothing and the balance of ‘technical’ information and lightness is perfect

An Open Letter to Future Yoga Therapy Students

As a yoga therapist – I take your individual mental and physical constitution into account as we design a healing practice for you.

The tools of yoga we use may include:

  • Poses

  • Movements

  • Breath work

  • Meditations and visualisations

  • Relaxation

  • Counseling / listening

  • Lifestyle changes / diet

As a yoga therapist, I see you as a whole being.  You might come to me with any range of issues (i.e. chronic back pain, neck stiffness, anxiety, stress, cancer, trauma, depression, asthma...) and I understand that everything is interconnected.  For example, back pain may make you feel irritable, effect your sleep and create shallow breathing.  We work together to address the issues at hand and any underlying, root causes.

During our sessions, we discuss thought patterns and behaviours and any desired change.  We work as a team to address every part of you - your body, your mind and your spirit.  You are the expert on you and it is my job to restore your agency.  I am here to assist you in the process of healing yourself.

Often when you work with a doctor, a physiotherapist, a psychologist, these people are focusing on one part of who you are.  The doctor and physio can do wonders for your physical body, the psychologist can greatly help you understand your own mind.  As a yoga therapist, I see that the mind, body and soul are intimately connected.  Our goal together is to alleviate your suffering and bring you into a place of healing and peace.  I do hope we find an opportunity to meet.

With Love

Kelsey
